"I have no idea why anyone would buy another 4pp platesetter," said Pisces vice president sales and marketing Hank Clifford.
The JetPlate 7600 is based on Epson's latest 24in-wide large-format ink-jet printer, the Stylus Pro 7600. Using the machine's 1,440dpi resolution and variable droplet size has allowed Pisces to increase imaging quality.
It can produce a 175lpi conventional screen, but had previously been limited to lower-frequency conventional screens or FM screens. Pisces' JetPlate produces an image on conventional offset plates by spraying a special liquid that acts on the plate like UV.
