Q My name is Claudemir and I work in a packaging company here in Brazil. I specialise in pre-press and graphic production. In our industry we need some help in the supply of ink for the DuPont Digital Cromalin AQ and I saw on your website an article about this machine. I’d be grateful if you could help us find somebody who could sell this kind of ink cartridge to us. Right now we need a magenta cartridge (ph65871) and nobody has one here in Brazil.

A Ooh, a long-distance call for help. Your best bet is to contact GPS, which is the export wing of the Wifac Group, which in turn is part of the group of companies that produces Wifag presses. Anyhow, GPS took over the global distribution of DuPont’s proofing products at the beginning of 2008. The firm also sells refurbished kit and provides warranties and other support services. GPS is based in the Netherlands and you can find more information, and contact details, at its website www.gps-int.com.
Q Anybody had any experience of the KBA 74 Karat? The blue one with the aqueous coater. It seems like a nifty bit of kit, but I’m being told it’s unreliable by the competition.
Tim Thompson, via the forums at www.printweek.com
A I particularly liked your description about it being the blue one, Tim, thanks for the giggle. As it happens, back in 2003 the world’s first 74 Karat with coater was installed here in the UK, at Tag Print Services in London (part of Tag Worldwide), where it remains in use to this day. The firm’s Neil Gibson is happy to have a chat with you about its pros and cons. You can contact him on 020 7251 4571. Also, FE Burman has two 74 Karats, though not with coaters. Michael Burman is equally happy to have a chat with you too, and you can get him on 020 7206 1000. Thanks to Neil and Michael for being so delightfully helpful.
Q We are looking for a supplier of bi-wheel charts, similar to parking discs and colour charts, that we can rivet with an eyelet.

A Try Serigraphia (www.serigraphia.co.uk 02476 637744) in Coventry or Blundell Harling (www.blundellharling.com 01305 206000) in Weymouth. Many thanks to Hunter Penrose, supplier of those circular reproduction calculators that were a pre-press essential a few years back, for help identifying Blundell Harling.
