New POS format opens opportunities for printers

Fripp Design and Research has unveiled a new POS system for pallets that it hopes to license to printers.

The Pallet Sign system is designed to create advertising space along an angled bottom edge of the pallet and is aimed at supermarkets, DIY outlets and other large stores that sell products directly off a pallet.

The POS strip is made of Correx and is clipped onto the bottom edge of the pallet enabling retailers to advertise special offers and bulk buy promotions, for example.

The waterproof system was launched at the In-Store 2010 exhibition in London where Fripp director Steve Roberts said it met with a warm welcome.

"It would seem that all of the major retailers want to sell products from pallets but have until now found they did not fit the store environment. Pallet wraps are ok but they are easily damaged and suffer from water ingress. With Pallet Sign, both these problems are taken away; Pallet Sign represents new lower cost product delivery opportunities for retailers."
