Marketing director Tony Porter said the firm had set up the Digital Matters division in response to customer feedback and to provide clear product advice for the digital print market.
"We have taken a three-step approach, where we aim to match the right paper with the right process to get the right result," said Porter.
A team of four office-based staff and a salesforce of five will be based in Leicester, and will support both McNaughton Paper and the groups Printall Display division. Sales manager Colin Lilley leads the Digital Matters division.
Digital specialists will also be based in offices throughout the James McNaughton Group.
The division aims to provide a one-stop service to meet the needs of the digital print market.
James McNaughton has also extended its Skye range of coated papers as part of a relaunch programme entitled Generation Skye.
Porter said Skye had been extended to include uncoated products in whites and ivories, in response to designers requests for uncoated quality papers.
Three new products have been added to the range; Skye uncoated brilliant white, Skye uncoated natural white, and Skye coated extra matt. A new text and cover grade will be added to the range in late spring.
The new division and relaunch are part of a corporate overview programme.
