Xeikon's offering follows on from the DCP 320S. "This machine incorporates the lessons of the last few years, and gives us a fresh start," said Xeikon GB managing director David Mooney.
The 14.7m/min 320 comes CMYK as standard but has the option of a fifth colour, usually opaque white, that can also print spot-colour or security toners and MICR.
The digital front end is Xeikon's X-800. It can print on a wide range of substrates, from 60gsm-250gsm including PP or PET films.
The HP Indigo 16m/min ws4050 is the successor to the ws4000. It offers a wider range of substrates including glue-applied and self-adhesive labels as well as shrink-sleeve materials from 12mic-350mic.
The 4050 has a reinsertion function to allow duplex label printing, and offers the IndiChrome option for five-, six- and seven-colour printing.
Additionally it will be available with workflow systems from either Artwork Systems or Esko-Graphics.
The ws4050 is expected to be available in the UK from October starting at 295,000 ($529,000). Upgrade kits for the ws4000, will also be available.
