Mystery surrounds future of Clowes Printers (Manchester)

Mystery surrounds the future of Manchester printer Clowes Printers (Manchester) after it went into administration last week.

Insolvency practitioner Leonard Curtis has confirmed that it was appointed as administrator last week (8 September).

A member of staff confirmed this morning that the company was still trading, although it is not known what the likelihood is of a sale.

Leonard Curtis declined to comment further on the situation.

Clowes Printers (Manchester) bought the business of failed printer Arthur W Clowes in July 2009.

It was the first purchase by Saul Loggenberg-headed Bowdon Investment Group, which also went on to purchase Macclesfield-based Maincolour.

Loggenberg claimed that he was building a print giant across the north west of England. However, Loggenberg has been uncontactable and the website for Bowdon Investment Group is no longer live.

One of Loggenberg's other businesses, Paramount Group, has a £42,500 charge over Clowes Printers' kit.
