In June, its Gillingham site became the pre-press hub for the UK division, enabling it to supply sister plants with digital files ready for CTP output. The core of its facility is based around Art Pro and Nexus pre-press workflows from Artwork Systems and a Creo Lotem 800 Quantum platesetter.
Tring staff are being trained on the replica pre-press package, but its Leicester and Crewkerne sites will not go CTP for at least six months. Once operational, it will bring the UK into line with Holland and Belgium.
Chief executive John Monks said: Holland has extensive experience of the Creo/Artwork Systems framework, and weve seen it for ourselves in Leeds. All sites will eventually be totally compatible, with the ability to switch work between them to meet demand.
The investment is not seen as a cost-saving activity and MY Cartons doesnt expect a financial payback.
We should see improvements in our client volumes as we narrow the market choice, but this wont affect press time, said Monks.
