The process involves attaching Multi Hitech’s Straight Gripping Attachment (SGA) without any "drilling or tapping" of the original component.
D K Garg, owner of Multi Hitech said: "It is difficult for the printers to sell machines with perfecting unit because of its low demand in used machinery market. The prices of these machines are lower by 20 to 25% then straight machines. However, if one goes to buy a new machine from any manufacturer than perfecting presses are costlier than straight machines. Also, the maintenance cost for a perfector is very high."
The concept and design has been patented (number 235761) by Multi Hitech with the Indian government. SGA converts Heidelberg perfecting machines into straight machines.
"It’s a permanent solution which requires one working day and a single engineer to complete the process."
Garg first made the conversion for Adast Dominant machines in 1989. Today it has the capacity to convert for any machine except KBA Planeta. For KBA Planeta perfectors, another Delhi-based company called Deepu Engineering Works does the conversion.
Multi Hitech has successfully converted Heidelberg perfectors at presses from all over India.
It icludes conversion at prominent print firms like Mumbai-based Repro India, Noida-based Brijbasi Art Press; Delhi-based Nutech Photo Lithographers and Haploos Printing House, Vadodara-based Modern Printers, Indore-based Spectrum Printers, Baddi-based Arihant Packswell, Secunderabad-based Anapurna Offset, Aravali Printers & Publishers, Gujarat Print Pack Publications among others.
