Moonpig Group has upped its sales forecast for the current financial year to £300m.

In a trading update for the financial year ending 30 April, the web-to-print cards and gifting giant said that the upgrade reflected a boost caused by the ongoing Covid-19 situation during late December and January.

“Our expectations for underlying revenue in FY22 remain unchanged at approximately £265m,” the company stated, while reiterating its expectations of underlying sales growth “in the mid-teens” in the medium-term.

CEO Nickyl Raithatha said the update reflected continued strong trading performance post-lockdowns, “including a very successful UK Mothers’ Day”, and the business was confident about the outlook for the year ahead.

“Moonpig Group has delivered a permanent step change in scale over the past two years, with a larger customer base displaying higher loyalty than pre-pandemic,” he said.

“The long-term opportunity remains vast, and we have never been in a better position to deliver against Moonpig Group's strategy to become the ultimate gifting companion.”

Last month Moonpig launched a dedicated website and app for the Irish market, along with a new range of cards created by Irish artists and designers.

Moonpig Group also includes Greetz in the Netherlands.

In its maiden results as a PLC, for the year to 30 April 2021, Moonpig sales more than doubled to £368.2m as customers flocked to online retailers during the first year of the pandemic, and with many bricks and mortar retailers forced to close.
