Monotype fonts in new format

Typeface foundry Monotype has released its entire library of fonts in the OpenType format.

More than 1,300 fonts have been made available in the new format, which allows expanded character sets compared to TrueType and compatibility with both Mac and Windows platforms.

Allan Harvey, Monotype Imaging director of words and letters, said that the release would "usher in the next century of typeface design".

Prices for single-weight fonts start at 29. They can be downloaded from UK distributor www.faces.co.uk.
