MBA Group invested £1.4m in new machinery from Böwe Systec to increase its capacity and improve its fulfilment process and efficiency.

The Tottenham, London-based direct marketing and transactional communications business has just gone public with details on its purchase of three Fusion Cross inserters, which were installed in early 2020.

Supplied by Böwe Systec UK, the new machines replaced a Pitney Bowes APS inserter, which was moved to MBA’s site in Warrington, and four Burhs machines – two 600s and two 400s – which were sold to a dealer.

Capable of achieving a throughput of up to 22,000 envelopes per hour, the Fusion Cross inserters will enable MBA to process a range of different job specifications, utilising the technology’s ability to handle a wide variety of formats from DL to C5 and up to C4 flats at high speed.

MBA Group production director Tom Nangle said: “The significant investment on the three inserters has doubled the enclosing capacity of our Tottenham production facility.

“We are delighted with how the new inserters have performed along with the training and support provided by Böwe Systec UK.”

Böwe Systec UK has also been awarded the maintenance contract for all mailing equipment on MBA’s Tottenham site, which will see it provide round the clock engineering support to the business.

Böwe Systec has had a working relationship with MBA since 2016, previously supplying kit including two mail sorters to the company, which also operates two Ricoh Pro VC60000 inkjet presses, two Xerox iGens, an HP Indigo, a Ricoh Pro C9110, five Xerox Nuveras, and two 10-colour Heidelberg Speedmaster litho presses – a 106 and a 74.

Serving sectors including utility, telecoms, financial, charity, travel, retail, health, motor, and central and local government, MBA Group’s 335 staff turn over £70m from its 12,542sqm site in Tottenham and its 3,902sqm Warrington facility.
