MB CAS boosts folding output at Southdown

Southdown Print Finishers has boosted its folding productivity by 40% after installing an MB CAS 38 folder at its Eastbourne plant.

Southdown bought the computerised MB CAS 38 from UK dealer Encore Machinery in May, having traded in its previous MB folder.

"The difference has been quite dramatic. As well as being much faster to set-up, it's so much easier to operate," said Southdown managing director Matthew Curtis.

According to Curtis, the investment in the fully computerised MB was partly driven by the growing amount of short-run digital and repeat work at the firm.

These were areas where the MB's anti-static bars and job memory came into their own, Curtis said.
