Print Room has rounded off a 500,000 investment with a new Komori Lithrone L526 and the purchase of Hudson Marketings repro division.
The L526, which replaces a 1988 Lithrone L426, will be installed in mid-September at the firm's new Bradford factory. Managing director Patrick Whitworth hopes it will help win new coated or five-colour work as previously "that second pass really did kill us price-wise".
The firm has also bought its repro in-house with the purchase of Hudson's repro arm, which included imagesetting and drum scanning kit. The division, now known as Studio Techniques, is already up and running at the new site.
Once the printing operation move is completed the firm plans to look at a move into CTP. It may also look to take on additional sales staff in the new year.
