Henry Ling has spent 1.2m on two new Heidelberg Speedmasters to increase capacity by 25%.
The Dorchester-based company, which specialises in printing scientific, medical and technical books, installed a two-colour Speedmaster SM 102 with perfector in June to join its existing three Speedmaster SM 102s, which are between two and six years old.
A five-colour Speedmaster 74 with coater is also planned for installation at the end of the year. The firm uses two four-colour Heidelbergs for cover printing.
Head of manufacturing Helen Kennett said installing a fourth SM102 was "logical" for the firm. "It provides continuity and with the CP2000 control system, we find it very simple to use."
Kennett added that the company was planning further investment this year, but refused to comment on their nature.
