Latex machine opens up new opportunities for UAE's Printworks-Mediatech

United Arab Emirates wide-format specialist Printworks-Mediatech has completed a job using its HP Designjet L65500, which it claims wouldn't have been possible using any print technology except the L65500's latex printing.

The project was to brand the lifts for a broadcast company including the three interior walls and the internal doors.

"Elevators are very tiny spaces, so imagine the potential odour in a 3.8 cubic metre space with 16sqm of solvent prints," said PrintWorks-Mediatech managing director Karim Saad. "It is a problem that we were able to eliminate with the new printer. The customer benefited from indoor quality printing and odourless ink while ensuring vibrant colours."

PrintWorks-Mediatech is the first company in the United Arab Emirates to install HP's Designjet L65500. The firm said the printer enabled it to operate in new markets where the odour from solvent printing would be a problem including restaurants, food courts, hotels and schools.

The firm is a joint venture between Dubai-based pre-press firm Mediatech and Lebanese wide-format business Printworks, which was founded in 2007.
