Latest Mitsubishi Diamond web offset press unveiled

Japanese manufacturer Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) has launched a new web offset press, the Diamond 16 Max Plus.

According to the company, the machine is aimed at longer run products such as magazines, pamphlets and newspaper advertising inserts.

The Diamond 16 Max Plus is available in a basic model, similar to the company's Diamond 16 Max model, but with additional processes such as one button operation, which eradicates the need for a trained operator.

It also features shorter makeready time, fewer waste copies, a more consistent print quality, fully automated colour adjustment and enhanced safety, Mitsubishi said.

The press comes with the Max SimulChanger – Mitsubishi's new fully automatic high-speed plate changing system, which the company claimed can carry out a complete plate change, including plate cylinder repositioning, in less than 60 seconds – which it says is the world's fastest.

Also included is Mitsubishi's Max Diamond Eye, an inline quality controller that compares pre-press image data with the actual image data read by the sensor, and automatically adjusts colour density.

In addition, the Diamond 16 features Max Color Navigator to simplify colour adjustment by enabling automatic fine-tuning of colours. The operator is then able to adjust the colours via touch-panel control.
