Kingsley brings laminating in-house with Komfi Amiga 52

Kingsley Print & Design has brought laminating in-house with the purchase of a Komfi Amiga 52 thermal laminating machine.

Previously the family-owned commercial printer and design studio had a single sheetfed Vivid laminator, but managing director John Vaughan said that as the business's needs had evolved over time it found itself outsourcing virtually all its lamination work, which delayed the finishing of jobs and added cost.

Eventually managing director Vaughan calculated that he could save money by bringing the process in-house, and so decided to take the plunge and replace the Vivid.

The Komfi, supplied by Friedheim International cost around £29,000.

It is used to laminate a range of items including brochures, posters, and book covers.

Vaughan said the team was “extremely impressed” with the quality of laminating provided by the Komfi since it was commissioned earlier this year.

“We can put a stack of sheets on it and just leave it running. We’re very pleased with it, it’s doing what we want, we’re not putting work out any more and it should pay for itself fairly quickly, maybe by the end of the year.”

Kingsley Print & Design was established in 1981 and offers design and artwork services alongside litho, digital and large-format print.  Its finishing facility boasts die-cutting, case-binding of books and brochures, laminating and packaging.

It employs 23 staff at its facility in Egham, Surrey.
