Marketing services company Inspired Thinking Group (ITG) has appointed industry specialist Darren Singer as its new chief financial officer to spearhead its global growth charge.

Singer, who started in the role at the Birmingham-headquartered business this week, will be tasked with leading ITG’s growth plan.

The business aims to expand to “a truly global, tech-led business delivering localised and personalised content at scale from hubs across the UK, Europe, the US and APAC”, through a series of acquisitions and partnerships, alongside organic growth.

With over 25 years of experience in the media and marketing sectors, Singer has joined from Global Media where he served as CFO for eight years and which had revenue from continuing operations of £681.8m in 2022. He has also previously worked for Guardian Media Group, Sky, and WPP among others.

Singer commented: “Inspired Thinking Group has been turning heads in the marketing space for some time now and working alongside its successful management team I’m very excited to be part of this growth journey.

“The marketing, media and advertising industries are key global sectors and scaling our services to support major brands across the world is a priority for me as CFO. ITG already has an impressive reach and I’m looking forward to playing a central role in continuing to expand that.”

Singer also holds an active role in the education sphere, sitting as a trustee and chair of finance of two academy boards.

Simon Ward, CEO and founder of ITG, added“Darren has a wealth of experience leading the growth of global media brands, and we’re delighted to welcome him into the Inspired Thinking Group to continue our expansion as one of the world’s largest independent marketing services companies and enterprise MarTech providers.

“Culture is an important aspect of ITG and Darren’s background and passion for education and innovation make him an excellent addition to our family.”

ITG was founded in 2009 and currently employs over 1,300 staff across its various global offices. The company, which last year won backing from private investor Bridgepoint in a multimillion-pound deal, recorded sales for the year ended 31 August 2022 of £140m.

The group consists of multichannel marketing activation services business Team ITG and its proprietary MarTech platforms Storyteq, Deployteq and Configteq. The group serves major brands including L’Oréal, Haleon (formerly GSK), Jaguar Land Rover, Heineken, and Puma.

Team ITG recently launched a new creative department, focusing on using AI to help clients get to market as quickly as possible.
