ImageData Group is installing an EFI Nozomi 14000 SD single-pass inkjet printer at its Howden, East Yorkshire site this week.

The Nozomi installation began on Thursday 21 March and joins a raft of other kit at ImageData, including two EFI Vutek Q5r bought since the end of 2022.

The group also operates a nearby site in Willerby and another in Brighton in East Sussex.

Chief operating officer Glen Patrick, said: “We are committed to remaining at the forefront of innovation and taking what we offer to our customers to the next level.

“This investment in the Nozomi will allow us to significantly ramp up our sign and display volumes without losing the superior print quality. This represents a significant milestone for ImageData and will empower us to keep delivering exceptional printing solutions that exceed our customers' expectations.”

Unveiled at last year’s Fespa trade show in Munich, the Nozomi 14000 SD is a 1.4m-wide, high speed printer for signage and display applications offering speeds up to 1,100 boards or sheets per hour, printing on a range of substrates including card, foamboard, polystyrene, folding cartons and canvas. It prints in CMYK plus optional white, orange and violet inks with 720 dpi resolution.

Patrick noted the device’s sustainable properties as of key importance to the business with its 100% environmentally friendly Greenguard and Greenguard Gold certified inks emitting virtually no VOCs and no odour, as well as being OCC-certified repulpable and recyclable inks for paper-based substrates, including corrugated containerboard.

He said: “We are mindful of our environmental impact, so the reduction in waste and true sustainable production offered by the Nozomi 14000 SD is really important to us. The lower VOCs and lower energy consumption coupled with more economical use of materials means a reduced carbon footprint as well as reduced running costs, which is a win/win for us and our customers.”

“The Nozomi 14000 SD is truly a disrupter for the sign and display market, making ultra-high print volumes coupled with the outstanding print quality brands expect achievable,” said Evandro Matteucci, vice president and general manager, packaging, EFI. “We are excited to be working with ImageData Group on their investment to deliver continuous excellence to their customers and delighted to be supporting them as they provide the numerous benefits of Nozomi technology to some of the U.K.’s biggest brands.”

It has been a steady few years on the investment front for family-owned ImageData Group with a new Xerox Iridesse joining the Brighton-based small format operation in August last year. That followed a double EFI Vutek Q5r roll-to-roll installation at Howden, in December 2022 and the second nearly a year later at the end of 2023.

The company, founded in 1986, also invested heavily during 2021 with an Inca Onset X3 flatbed and an HP Indigo 100K for its Willerby site and two Xerox Nuvera 314s and a raft of Duplo finishing kit in Brighton.
