HP has opened a new Indigo supplies warehouse in Staffordshire to more efficiently serve its UK customer base.

Opened in May, HP said the new industrial warehouse is the result of a careful analysis following HP Indigo’s annual level 1 customer survey, which identified an increasing need for a UK-based supplies warehouse.

With this new facility, it said delivery times would be significantly reduced while the need for international shipping to meet supply demands would be lessened.

The new warehouse leverages HP’s pre-existing partnership with contract logistics and warehousing distribution services, Kuehne+Nagel. Its flexible workforce will allow HP to streamline processes and offer quicker express shipments, as well as same-day deliveries, with next-day delivery offered as standard.

With Indigo supplies now under one centralised roof, HP said the warehouse would be able to quickly resolve any supply shortages in the UK, by reducing the need to swap or borrow supplies, usage items, and ink cans from various warehouses around the UK and Europe.

There is also an additional layer of flexibility in the event of an emergency, eliminating the risk of cross-border delivery delays.

“We are excited to be launching our new industrial warehouse this summer,” said HP UK&I country manager Peter Jolly.

“Like all of our warehouses and ongoing projects, we want to deliver the best-in-class experience for all of our customers, which is why after careful analysis of our annual customer survey, it made sense to open the doors to a new warehouse that meets our customers’ needs.”

HP said that implementing a new Warehouse Management System (WMS) has also extended its ability to manage the most complex of supply chains.

The new warehouse effectively manages GB customer orders and reduces reoccurring emergency express orders. As a result, there will be less frequent freight deliveries from The Netherlands and reduced travel from the warehouse to end customer sites.

Jolly added: “Whether it’s high-speed delivery, maximising efficiency, or meeting sustainability credentials, the Staffordshire warehouse will deliver on all fronts.”

HP is also looking to expand its efforts and will look towards using the new warehouse for its PageWide inkjet business in years to come.
