Heidelberg has sold its 1,500th Quickmaster DI press to Guernsey-based Parallel Print Services, a new digital start-up that aims to be "the biggest print-on-demand company in the UK and Channel Islands within five years".
"The QM DI is what I would classify as a true CTP system as it images directly onto the press," said Parallel managing director Neil Le Valee. The QM DI 46-4 will be installed in April alongside a two-colour Printmaster QM 46.
Parallel hopes to target customers requiring low to medium print runs and print-on-demand, for retailers and finance firms.
It will also offer digital asset management, involving digital storage and price auditing.
The customers stored data on CD and disk will enable material to be almost immediately reprinted in the case of premises being damaged.
Parallel will also carry out on-site print media audits for potential customers, and will not charge for the service if it cant find a clear saving of 10% by putting its print and data handling through Parallel.
