Harlequin has bought the MAXWorkFlow product line from developer Harris Publishing Systems for an undisclosed amount.
"As an OEM supplier we need to own all the technology in the workflow," said Jim Friedah, chief operating officer, Global Graphics printing software division.
"Even with a nice joint venutre such as the one we had with Harris you don't totally open the kimono. It's easier to go in front of a customer with a product that is entirely yours."
Harris Publishing Systems vice president Briggs Kilborne said: "We believe that Harlequin has the skill and resources to continue to drive development of this solution. We look forward to continuing to work with Harlequin as an OEM."
This is a further step by Global Graphics to become a dominant player in the printing software business, and comes hot on the heels of the acquisition of 5D's printing software division (PrintWeek, 1 September).
