Fujifilms International Systems Integration Group (ISIG) has launched a new version of its Valiano MIS for pre-press shops.
Shown for the first time at this weeks Total Publishing exhibition at Earls Court, Valiano Business Management System (BMS) was developed with feedback from users of the original Valiano Management System (VMS).
We decided not to take VMS any further, said ISIG manager Andy Walker, though weve learned from it to give customers what they want.
Valiano BMS is a standalone package that doesnt affect existing workflows. It does estimating, project control, job ticketing, tracking, purchasing and invoicing.
Fuji sees it as being ideal for firms that bill based on time in pre-press, publishing and design. Valiano BMS can also be integrated with third-party MIS to feed figures from pre-press into an existing system.
The browser-based system works by creating a job jacket for each project, which records the time taken for each operation carried out on a job. Work carried out on a workstation is automatically recorded, while a manually activated timer can be used to log non-computer-based tasks.
The package is available in Standard, Premium and Enterprise versions. The Standard version is based on a FileMaker Pro database and is suitable for five 20-user systems. It costs from 4,000 and is available now.
The other versions, based on an SQL database for larger operations and multi-site users, will be available later this year and will cost up to 30,000.
