Soyang, which has acted as a distributor of the Japanese manufacturer’s Acuity Prime and Acuity Ultra machines since 2023, will receive its demonstration Triton within weeks.
The Triton uses Fujifilm’s Aquafuze ink set, which has been in development for nearly a decade: water-based, the ink is dried with low-temperature heater and cured with UV LEDs, resulting in a print that is usable immediately.
“It’s impressive,” Gareth Newman, Soyang Europe’s technical applications manager, told Printweek.
“It’s all about the finishing speed of application after the print: there’s no need to degas, or waiting for VOCs to disappear. You can print, laminate, and stick it on a van instantly.”
Able to print on polypropylene, polyesters and fabrics, the Triton is flexible enough for wrapping applications thanks to its low lay-rate compared to traditional UV, scratch-resistant and durable, with no need for a top coat.
Printing at 15sqm/hr, the machine’s high productivity comes from its ability to go straight from printer to application in minutes, Newman said.
“You can literally cut the print off after it’s finished printing and put it through a cold laminator. You don’t have to put it through a hot laminator, either: you don’t get the silvering because you don’t have the pile height to go over, like you do compared to traditional UV Prints,” he said.
Mark Mashiter, managing director of Soyang Europe, said the machine was a “true innovation in the wide format sector.”
“It addresses many of the frustrations customers have had with traditional latex and solvent technologies – offering genuine advantages in flexibility, sustainability, and performance. We are excited to bring this solution to the UK and to continue strengthening our partnership with Fujifilm.
“Being a media supplier gives us a natural, ongoing dialogue with customers. It means we’re not just waiting for them to be ‘ready’ for a new machine – we’re already there, supporting them every day. That puts us in a far stronger position to introduce innovative solutions like the Acuity Triton and Aquafuze when the time is right.”
Andy Webb, UK wide format sales manager at Fujifilm, added: “Soyang Europe has consistently proven to be a trusted partner, with the technical expertise and customer focus that align perfectly with our values.
“The launch of the Acuity Triton and Aquafuze marks an exciting new chapter for Fujifilm, and we’re proud to further strengthen our partnership with Soyang Europe as we bring this innovation to the UK market.”
