Uses new Aquafuze ink

Equinox Group embraces 'performance, planet and partnership' with first Acuity Triton

Equinox Group has become the first company to invest in Fujifilm’s new Acuity Triton printer with Aquafuze water-based UV ink.

The Leeds-headquartered business operates internationally, and has worked with Fujifilm on exhibitions and global events for nearly three decades, including stand construction for this week’s Fespa Global Expo show in Berlin.

Aquafuze made its Fespa debut at the show, with Fujifilm hailing the new ink as a “monumental” development.

Equinox managing director Carl Criscione said the firm was delighted to be investing in cutting-edge Fujifilm technology “especially a product that aligns so closely with our own values and direction”.

“At Equinox, we’ve made it our mission to lead with both creativity and responsibility. The Acuity Triton supports that mission perfectly. It’s an investment in performance, in our planet, and in a partnership we’re incredibly proud of,” he said.

Fujifilm Speciality Ink Systems marketing manager Chelsea Carter commented: “We’re thrilled to see our long-term partners at Equinox become the first to adopt the Acuity Triton with Aquafuze ink.

“Their decision reflects a shared commitment to both print performance and sustainability. Aquafuze technology was created for forward-thinking businesses like Equinox, and we’re excited to support them in this next chapter.”

Equinox was established in 1983. It offers design and production services for exhibitions, events and for permanent fixtures such as experiential retail environments.

It prints in-house and also uses selected production partners in the UK and internationally depending on the project requirements. Criscione said that for Fujifilm projects it works with partners using relevant Fuji printing technology.

The Triton will replace an older HP Latex device at the company.

Criscione told Printweek: “We wanted to invest in Fujifilm for some time and this machine both in size and environmentally is the first product in wide format that I think reaches our market.”

The Acuity Triton engine is made by fellow Japanese manufacturer Mutoh, which was also involved in the development of Aquafuze.

The 1.6m-wide printer can print at speeds of up to 15sqm/hr, with instant drying for immediate finishing, cutting, laminating or other required processes and with no need for a top coat.

The output is also flexible enough to be used for wrapping applications, and is scratch-resistant and highly durable.

The device, which garnered substantial interest at Fespa, will be sold by Fujifilm’s distribution partner network, and is available immediately.

Carter said Triton would be rolled out in the UK and Italy first, followed by Germany, the Netherlands, Spain and the rest of Europe by September.

Pricing is from around €22,000-€23,000 (£19,000).

Fujifilm’s Broadstairs facility has also geared up to make the necessary volumes of ink to support the roll-out, with plans to roll out Aquafuze on more products in time.
