FPF eyes new market with large-format die-cutter

Finishing house Fear Print Finishers (FPF) has invested 120,000 on a large-format die-cutting machine from SBL Machinery.

The company said it had identified a gap in the market in the Midlands area and so installed a STS 1050SE automatic die-cutting and creasing platen to offer the service.

In addition, Stephen Mear, a print veteran of almost 40 years has become a 50% partner in the business, alongside managing director and founder Jason Fear.

A cash injection from Mear has helped to purchase the machine, which Mear hopes will double the company's turnover to around £300,000.

He said: "We are hoping that this investment will take us to the next level. There is definitely a market in the Midlands for companies that can die-cut to B1.

"The financial climate may not be great at the moment, but this is an investment in the future."

Mear added that although it was still early days, the machine had already helped to bring in new work, and is providing a perfect one-two punch alongside its remoist gluing service.

FPF also has a Stahl folding machine and a Polar Guillotine.
