French firm installs B2 inkjet

First post-beta installation for Ricoh Pro Z75 revealed

Pro Z75: “It’s very unique, very powerful, and we’re very excited about it”
The Pro Z75 can handle uncoated, inkjet treated, and offset coated media up to 400gsm

A French online printer has installed the world’s first post-beta Ricoh Pro Z75 B2 sheetfed inkjet press.

Realisaprint.com has taken on the new duplexing press to target new markets. The machine has joined a Pro VC70000 high-speed inkjet colour press and two Pro C9200 sheetfed digital presses from Ricoh at the company, which was founded in 2007 and provides commercial printing services to customers in France, Spain, and Italy.

Operating exclusively online, the business employs around 140 staff at an 8,000sqm production centre near Nice, and offers products including brochures, flyers, signage, rigid panels, and POP displays.

Every day, Realisaprint.com prints and dispatches up to 1,500 client orders and the Pro Z75 will enable the business to continue its entry into new sectors such as commercial print, improve lead times, increase profit margins, and enhance its client services.

The press can print at speeds of up to 4,500sph in straight printing or 2,250sph in duplex/perfecting printing. It can produce 1,200dpi native resolution at all speeds with four-colour (CMYK) pigment-based inks, and print is then ready for immediate finishing with the machine’s proprietary drying system.

The Pro Z75 can handle uncoated, inkjet treated, and offset coated media up to 400gsm, with a maximum sheet size of 585x750mm.

It also features a raft of workflow automation tools, which were important to Realisaprint.com. As a result, with orders to the company’s e-commerce store, data files are automatically routed to the relevant production device based on size, volumes, and preferred media.

Rafael Mari, Realisaprint.com’s co-founder, said: “We are delighted to continue our close collaboration with Ricoh. Throughout the decision-making process we were fully supported by Ricoh and its experts in Europe, Japan, and America.

“The new press will enable the operation to continue to open up new sectors of the market such as commercial print applications, and it will also help to maximise our production capacity.”

Sander Sondaal, director, commercial print sales at Ricoh Graphic Communications added the investment was Realisaprint.com’s “latest step in its successful transition to a streamlined operating model”.

“It will sit between the operation’s sheetfed toner and high-speed inkjet technologies to help ensure the consistent, fast delivery of high quality applications,” he said.

“With the Pro Z75’s superior levels of print quality, efficiency, and automation Realisaprint.com can keep production costs as low as possible and improve profit margins.

“In turn, this will support an enhanced proposition for current and prospective clients with very attractive prices. We are delighted to be able to report this trailblazing order so soon after announcing the official launch and are preparing for further positive news before long.”

The installation, which began in October, followed the successful beta test of the Pro Z75 at Heeter in the US.
