FespaDaily 22 round-up: Day 3

Our round-up of articles published in issue three of the dual language, official show newspaper for Fespa Global Print Expo 2022 in Berlin produced by Printweek.

Space Tailor seeking distributors
Space Tailor used Fespa to look for new distributors for its fabric window covering films. The company currently sells its products in Europe through its partner Sentec International, based in The Netherlands, but is hoping to find a distributor for each country. Director Park Sung Ho said: “Our products are 100% polyester fabric and we don’t use permanent adhesive, our product is removable; you can do dry installation and remove it easily. Also, if the customer buys one roll, we provide one free design made by hand that they can download from our website and print themselves.”

Neenah in transfer revolution
Neenah Coldenhove used Fespa as the launchpad for two new transfer papers. The manufacturer described Texcol as a “revolutionary pigment transfer paper” for natural and blended textiles, with great colour intensity and light fastness – and it comes with the promise of ink savings of up to 50%. Texcol does not require costly pre- and post-treatments and is billed as being ideal for “curtains, pillows, textile art and decorative indoor and outdoor textiles”. The second product was Xtreme Sports, a new fast drying sublimation transfer paper for technical textiles.

Brett Martin’s sustainable plastic
Brett Martin described its new polycarbonate material as “a quantum shift towards climate neutral plastic sheets”. The Marlon BioPlus Polycarbonate was developed in partnership with polymer producer Covestro. Covestro’s Makrolon RE uses bio-circular materials, such as those made from used cooking oils, instead of fossil-based raw materials. Extrusion of the Marlon BioPlus flat, multiwall and corrugated sheets uses 100% renewable electricity from Brett Martin’s own wind and solar facilities. Director William Martin said the introduction of Makrolon RE from a mass balanced and certified source of bio-circular attributed feed-stock took sustainability to the next level.

MBA shows clever reel lifter
Mario Belloli Automazioni showed a clever new jumbo paper reel lifter on its Fespa booth. Aimed at wide-format firms printing on large volumes of paper, the €45,000 device is easy to operate. It has two arms with pneumatic self-expanding heads, which will pick up rolls of different heights automatically when a paper roll is placed on the floor between them. Rolls can be placed into position from the front or side of the lifter. Maximum paper roll weight is 1,800kg while maximum width and diameter are 2.07m and 1.5m. On the MBA booth the jumbo roll feeder is running into an MS JP4 printer.

Keencut’s jubilee prize draw
Precision cutting specialist Keencut has used the upcoming Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in the UK as the inspiration for a special Fespa promo. The firm enlisted the help of Drytac and Roland for the tricky job of wrapping a SteelTrak vertical cutter in the union flag. A prize draw for the Jubilee SteelTrak will be made on Keencut’s Fespa stand (2.2-A23) on 3 June. Entry is via the firm’s Linkedin or Instagram pages. Business development manager Debbie Pendergrast said: “This is a real statement piece; it’s all the amazing precision and versatility of the SteelTrak and a stunning piece of art all in one.”

ImagePerfect’s new eco films
ImagePerfect EverGreen, a new portfolio of eco-friendly self-adhesive films from the business was launched at Fespa. According to the manufacturer, they are designed to offer users a range of products that do not compromise on either ease of application or performance, and come at a price comparable with the majority of conventional alternatives. The PVC-free range prioritises sustainability in all components of the product, including the surface film, adhesive, and liner, as well as how the rolls are presented, protected, and packaged.
