Eurofold latest in Babs product line

Babs International has used Digital Print World to launch three new products into the UK digital market.

"They're coming thick and fast at the moment," said Babs managing director Dick Reynolds.

The Eurofold DCM 45/75 creaser/perforator is capable of 30,000sph, irrespective of the number of creases, which the firm claims is three times faster than its rivals. It came about following a link-up between the Swiss manufacturer Multigraf and Tech-ni-fold in the UK.

"It's specifically targeted at the digital market because it keeps the paper totally flat and it doesn't have to go round any rollers," said Reynolds. "So it offers the perfect crease."

It uses a version of Tech-ni-fold's Tri-Creaser, which was especially adapted and developed for the digital print market. It is this creasing system, which eases and stretches the surface progressively, that prevents the paper's fibres cracking. Key to the DCM's operation are the two 36mm diameter creasing shafts, which give the unit greater versatility in the type of work it can handle.

The shafts operate independently and can be pressure-adjusted for difficult substrates. Micro-perforating and slitting tools can also be fitted as required.

The firm also demonstrated the new Eurofold modular knife folder, the MKF 35. It can fold materials up to 3mm thick and is capable of speeds up to 17,000 folds per hour.

"It can be used as a stand-alone machine or on-line with a folder, press, continuous forms cutter or DCM creaser," said Reynolds.

The firm also unveiled the Plockmatic 1000 FeederPro at the show (PrintWeek, 16 September).
