E-G looking to redevelop CTCP

Esko-Graphics is re-evaluating its computer-to-conventional-plate (CTCP) technology known as Dicon.

Its seeing if the technology, which was promoted as having potential in high plate volume applications such as newspapers, can be applied to a low-cost platesetter suitable for smaller printers. As we arent continuing with newspapers were looking at other markets, said Hubert Scheir, director of marketing.

It is in discussions with a firm regarding the sale of its newspaper business and expects to announce the deal shortly, according to Scheir.

The firm has also sold its specialist map pre-press division to Belgian firm Star Informatic.

It will become the Publishing Solutions business unit and will remain under the current manager, Paul Dur.

This follows the firms recent announcement of the agreement to sell its digital printing software division to Punch, Xeikons owner.
