Diguru completes 500,000 spend with Duplo kit

Start-up printer Diguru has finalised a 500,000 spend on new equipment with a DuCreaser with Integrated Folding System and a System 3500 Bookletmaker from Duplo.

The Southampton-based business was formed in February by managing director Richard Harwood and operations director Alex Marszal. The investment followed an investment in a Presstek 34DI press and HP wide format printer.

Harwood said: "Starting with a blank sheet of paper was potentially daunting but it gave us an opportunity to get the right processes and machinery in place to quickly become a very competitive business, with quality output and first-class service.

"We can be competitive on runs ranging from 50 to 10,000, and it was important that the whole line had equally high quality levels without compromising speeds.

"The machine has played a part in us being able to offer very good pricing on short-run work and the versatility of the device means we can put through lots of different types of work."

Despite still being in its infancy, Diguru, which is short for Digital Guru, has already acquired more than 50 clients, ranging from marketing agencies and small businesses to government and blue chip organisations.

Duplo’s Integrated Folding System is available online for the DC-445 DuCreaser and DC-645e Production Colour Finisher, allowing a complete finishing in one pass. When connected to the DC-445, the system can reach speeds of up to 3,000 sheets per hour.

The System 3500 combines Duplo’s 10/60Pro suction-fed collator tower, with the DBM-350 and DBM-350T bookletmaker and trimmer. According to Duplo, the machine has a 60-second set-up with speeds up to 3,500 finished booklets an hour.
