Indigo used Print UK to reveal the first customer installation of its Platinum digital colour press, which was being shown for the first time at the show.
Tunbridge Wells digital printer Copytech installed the machine last week.
It joins the firms Indigo e-Print Pro+, which was installed 18 months ago.
We reached capacity on the Pro+ and needed a new machine, said managing director Nicholas Baldwin.
It is looking to move into new sectors including city and financial printing. Executive director David Lavington recently joined to oversee the move.
The Platinum, starting at under 140,000, uses Image Tracking Technology, which is said to improve the quality of tints and solids by locking the laser onto the photo imaging plate.
Indigo UK general manager Steve Donegal used the show to reveal further details about its acquisition by Hewlett-Packard, describing it as the beginning of round two of the development of digital print.
Round one was the development of technology leadership. We won that and are outselling Xeikon three to one, he said. Round two is the struggle of giants. Indigo couldnt do it alone. It takes more than brilliant technology, it needs resources and finance.
