Printers should learn to be driven not by enthusiasm for technology, but by enthusiasm for their customers, according to CAP Ventures director Elisabeth Bitsch-Christensen.
Bitsch-Christensen, who heads CAP's European On Demand wing, was a keynote speaker at PrintWeek's one-day conference "Profiting through digital print", held this week.
Her session, "follow the money", focused on how to take advantage of digital print, offered sales tips for printers keen to enter new markets and highlighted the UK's position as European leader in print-on-demand.
The other speakers were: Ghilad Dziesietnik, from the Print On Demand Initiative; Michael Burman of FE Burman; Geoff Downer from Identex; David Russell from Trajan; Nick Pride-Hearn of TCG Production House; and consultant Phil Taylor.
RES managing director Robin East, gave a visionary speech summing up the day, stating: "Digital has been singled out as one of the nastiest businesses to get into - it isn't, you just need to research and plan as you would any business. "
