Computershare in double Indigo buy

Computershare Investor Services has installed two HP Indigo 3050 presses in a bid to bring colour personalised print production in-house.

The two machines have been installed at Computershare Document Services (CDS), the firm's in-house print plant, in Bristol.

Divisional sales and marketing manager Andrew Law said that the firm had previously produced black and white work on Xerox DocuTechs and outsourced its litho print.

"Now we can bring this in-house, saving time and money," said Law.
The HP Indigo press 3050 digital colour press is capable of matching up to 97% of Pantone colours.

CDS produces personalised share registry information to shareholders of around 26% of the FTSE 250 across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Law said the business had also diversified, resulting in the firm producing more one-to-one direct marketing materials, and the 3050s will help to expand this offering.

Work in this area has included the production of a welcome pack for Marks & Spencer Money customers.

"Our business has been built on banking documents, but we are seeing a growing market in the 30% of business we do for outside customers," said Law.

The aim is that the in-house digital printing facility will allow the company to expand its business in a variety of areas, securing its long-term growth.

The two 3050s were installed in February this year and, combined, are now producing some 50,000 documents per week.
The firm, which employs 125 staff, expects turnover to reach 13m this year.
