Two new products from Compose will provide composite PDF and halftone proofing up to 175lpi.
Both products, SecureProof and StarProof, were previewed at Print 01 in Chicago, and Compose marketing spokesman Mike Fellows said interest in the products, which are now commercially available, had been high. "Both systems are cost effective and an alternative to running film on imagesetters and producing Cromalins," he said.
The mid-range SecureProof system, priced at 2,500, creates PDF files for high-quality composite proofing, while the high-end StarProof offers contract proofing on ink-jets, outputting proofs with halftone dots up to 175lpi. The reprographics version retails at 4,250, with the newspaper version costing 6,950.
