Clicks kit goes on sale

An array of equipment previously used by Clicks, including what was the first Screen Truepress Jet W3200UV wide-format printer in the world, is going under the hammer at auction.

The assets have been mothballed and in storage since being acquired by an unnamed party after London-based Clicks went into administration in February 2017.

The firm that originally bought the equipment, which PrintWeek understands was not a printing business, decided not to pursue its original plans for the setup.

Marriott & Co is now holding an auction of the assets, which are described as “lightly-used”. The equipment is currently located at a site in Hook, near Basingstoke.

The first lot in the sale is the 3.2m-wide Truepress, which Clicks installed in 2015. It has six colours and two whites. The opening bid for the device, which had a list price of around £250,000 when new, is £30,000.

Other wide-format and digital printing lots include an EFI Vutek GS2000, a Fujifilm Acuity LED 1600, an HP DesignJet L26500 and a five-colour HP Indigo 5000 sheetfed press that has an opening bid price of £500.

A range of finishing kit is also included, including a Horizon bookletmaking line and perfect binder, a D&K double-sided laminator, a 2m-wide SallMetall roll laminator, and a variety of photobook finishing kit as well as card creasers, drills and binding systems.

Judith Campbell, director of disposals at Marriott & Co, said she understood that potential buyers could have concerns about the amount of time the kit has been out-of-action, and the fact that it has been relocated twice.

“People are welcome to come along and inspect the lots, and look at the heads, and so on. We do encourage people to come and have a look,” she said. “We’ve been told it was all working when it was removed, but this is an auction.”

The equipment is available to view on 13 November, and the auction will conclude on the afternoon of 14 November.
