Around 150 delegates were questioned at Piras Strategic Print Management Conference and Exhibition held in London on 25 and 26 February (PrintWeek, 4 March).
Claritum managing director James Samuels said: The research highlighted once again that cost is often the most significant factor when delivering print.
Of those taking part 89% said the biggest issue facing the print industry was print and paper prices, with 77% putting administration costs a close second.
Other key findings showed that 44% felt contract/brand compliance was a significant issue, while 44% viewed waste and obsolescence as an important issue.
Claritums research revealed:
82% of decision makers do not have a direct paper supplier agreement.
Depending on size of the company, 50% stated that print management worked better with an in-house team.
50% said purchasing from overseas provided the greatest opportunity for further print supply chain rationalisation.
Founded in 1999 and based in Bath, Claritum now has more than 1,000 users among print management companies.
