Chairmen of the CIP4 workgroups, which include pre-press, MIS and finishing, met from 23-26 May to thrash out the final details of the new spec.
JDF 1.3, which will be published in September, includes beefed up sections on secure messaging, web printing and packaging.
"They'll look at areas we haven't properly covered before," said CIP4 chief executive Martin Bailey. "These include pre-flighting and secure messaging between products so you can get more authentication of who's sending data."
