Canon launches imagePrograf large-format quartet

Canon has introduced four new imagePrograf large-format printers designed for applications in the Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Geographic Information System (GIS) markets.

The 24in imagePrograf iPF650 and iPF655 and the 36in iPF750 and iPF755 models will be available from June and May respectively and are some of the fastest in their class, according to the manufacturer.

The iPF650 and iPF655 machines can print an A1 image in 30 seconds, while the 36in
iPF750 and iPF755 printers can output an A0 sheet in 48 seconds.

Canon's new product launches raise the number of its machines in the CAD and GIS arena to seven and indicate an on-going push to increase market share in the A1 and A0 technical sectors.

According to figures from the company, its European share in the technical segment rose from 16.1% in 2007 to 18.6% in 2008.

Shane Burchett, LFP product professional at Canon UK, said: "We looked into what was important to our customers and have made significant improvements in areas such as productivity, usability and quality to ensure Canon stays ahead in the CAD and GIS large-format printer markets."
