Buxton seals new 3m deal to print Excel mag portfolio

Buxton Press has extended its magazine printing contract with Excel Publishing in a three-year deal that could be worth more than 3m.

The Derbyshire printer, PrintWeek Printing Company of the Year in 2009, won the new contract in an open tender and will print the full range of Excel’s magazines.

Manchester-based Excel publishes a range of titles for the public sector and housing markets.

Managing director Kirk Galloway said paginations and run lengths were increasing after two years of decline, and said Buxton would "shortly report its best trading year ever".

Last year, Buxton announced plans for an £11m investment programme from 2012 to 2018.

And Galloway said contracts like that from Excel provided a "solid and stable base for planning future cashflow requirements and associated capital expenditure".
