Rumours circulated this week that Boots would remove the catalogue from its stores, as it appeared that someone had crudely appended a penis onto the picture of Oliver on the cover of his 2004 calendar.
But the offending item that sits between Olivers legs is in fact a paper bag of fruit. Its when the image is scaled down that the problems start, said a Boots spokesman. We do see the funny side, but its not as some peoples imagination would have them believe, he added.
Boots has re-cropped the image on its website following some complaints. But the catalogue, which has a print run of around 9m and is read by 13m people, will remain in circulation. It was printed by Polestar.
