Book-saw buy helps Irish firm raise capacity

Microprint has invested over 130,000 on the installation of Kolbus book-saw on its binding line in order to produce two-up booklets.

The TR 160 book-saw was retrofitted into the middle of its 20-station computer-controlled Kolbus RatioBinder. The company said this made it Ireland's most productive binder.

"It will enable us to produce A6 booklets two-up, at high volumes, which will allow us to develop new niches," said managing director Noel Boyle.

He added this was in line with plans "to grow revenues by increasing the scale of our low-cost, high-volume, print manufacturing."

Dublin-based Microprint serves the IT and educational sectors, as well as general commercial print. Its 6,600m factory also offers fulfilment, logistic and distribution services.
