Bespoke consolidates operations into one site

Envelope manufacturer Bespoke Envelopes Direct (BED) has finalised a two-year plan to bring its three facilities under one roof.

The company is now based at Dartford Crossing, having previously had facilities in Dagenham, Barking and Sidcup. It had previously touted the move in early 2007.

As part of the move BED invested in a new W&D202 envelope manufacturing machine, which was the first unit to be installed at the new site.

A further 12 machines, for envelope manufacturing and overprinting, have been installed at the plant over the last three months. The site is capable of producing 7m envelopes a day.

BED is hoping to achieve ISO 14001 accreditation in the next few weeks.

Managing director Nigel Harper said: "We hope to realise the business synergies and aid the growth of the business in line with a host of new contract wins. I believe we are now the largest independent envelope manufacturer in the south of England."
