Benford UV completes biggest installation to date

UK UV curing systems manufacturer Benford UV has continued to grow its export market after completing its biggest installation to date in the US.

The Buckinghamshire-based firm retrofitted the new non-UV prepared 2007 KBA 105 10-colour perfector press at Kappa Graphics with end-of-press and interdeck UV and an end-of-press hot air/IR dryer in March.

Kappa Graphics, which is based in Pittston, Pennsylvania, made the investment to increase its productivity.

The installation is Benford UV's biggest to date in terms of the number of lamps that it provided for the system.

The system is Benford’s Dual UV, which can cure both standard UV inks and coatings and the low-energy inks, known as highly reactive inks, that were developed for LED UV curing.

“85% of our installations are retrofits to conventional non-UV presses,” said Marc Boden, managing director of Benford UV. “90% of our installations have been overseas, to companies in countries including the US, Canada, Thailand, Spain and Russia.”

Benford UV employs six staff and has a turnover of over £1m.

Speaking of the firm’s future plans Boden said: “We have two large systems being built for the US and our first Eco UV system is going into Selsey Press in Chichester in the first week of June.”
