Baker Goodchild buys Buhrs BB300 envelope inserter

Direct mail fulfilment and print management services provider Baker Goodchild has invested in a new Buhrs BB300 envelope inserting system to boost its productivity and increase its direct mail service offerings.

The machine, which was installed at the Birmingham-based firm’s premises earlier this month, is capable of handling 10,000 envelopes per hour, from 114x162mm to up to 250x353mm in size.

The multi-format machine can handle all DIN and special formats, including square and creative envelopes, and can also cater for envelopes with multiple windows.

The BB300’s features include a pick-and-place feeder and a turnover application on the conveyor belt. It can also handle envelope inserts such as CDs and product sample applications and can be tailored for personalised mailing.

“We are constantly updating our print and mailing equipment as it's important that we continue to go beyond our customers' expectations,” said managing director Lorraine Burnell.

The company also runs five Ricoh mono printers, a Xerox 6060, a Pitney Bowes 75F inkjet, a Pitney Bowes 95 inkjet, a Pitney Bowes DI600, a Pitney Bowes DI880, a Domino inkjet, a Rena inkjet, a Sharp MX 5500N printer, three Kern 2000s, an MBO folder and a range of other finishing kit.

The firm looked at a number of alternatives before making this investment but found the Buhrs BB300 to be the best fit for its requirements after assessing the machine’s reviews and capabilities.

The BB300 has reportedly already improved the turnaround time within Baker Goodchild's production department and reduced the amount of hand fulfillment that it has to do due to the machine’s automation.

“We firmly believe that the Buhrs BB300 will guarantee the very best service and turnaround of mailings for our customers,” said Burnell.

The privately owned Birmingham-based business provides print, mail and postage services for business owners, SMEs and entrepreneurs.
