Authors back Greenpeace drive

More than 40 major authors, including Tony Benn, have signed up to a Greenpeace campaign to force book publishers to use ancient-forest-friendly papers.

The charity took advantage of last week's Hay-on-Wye book festival to recruit a raft of writers to the campaign, which promotes the use of FSC-certified papers. Household names from literature, politics and journalism including Stephen Fry, Terry Pratchett, Philip Pullman, Piers Morgan, William Hague, Jon Snow and Julian Clary also signed the charity's special pledge book, a giant Victorian scrapbook.
