Art Projects for Schools invests in perfect binding

Art Projects for Schools (APFS) has purchased a Horizon BQ-270V perfect binder, extending its binding capabilities and capacity.

The binder was supplied by Intelligent Finishing Systems (IFS) and installed in the summer at APFS’ Whitstable site. A creative fundraising project supplier, APFS chose the model to boost binding quality and increase sales.

The 500cph, single-clamp binder includes an automated, sensor-activated digital caliper system which measures book block thickness and transfers this data to the binder for quick, automated setup for books of different thicknesses.

It also features a colour touchscreen, job programming functions and a compact configuration.

APFS chief executive Dan Dickey said: “We liked the Horizon BQ-270V because of its speed and build quality. It will enable us to take on larger runs and offer faster turnaround times.

“It has been running well since it was installed and we are very pleased with it.”

APFS, which produces fundraising projects for schools such as yearbooks, Christmas cards, calendars, mugs and t-shirts, expects ROI to come from productivity savings and business growth.
