The product, currently known under its working title, Proof Positive, will use pairs of selected and calibrated Sony monitors for viewing and RTI image rendering and serving technology.
The overall concept of the product and the technology used is similar to KPGs Matchprint Virtual, which is also based on RTI technology. Applecart however has decided to release the package as a product with an upfront purchase charge, rather than as an ASP with a per-proof cost. Price has yet to be determined.
Trials are already under way with a version of the product currently being used at Readers Digest as an extension of the work Applecarts sister company Colour Systems has done on standardising colour reproduction for the company in Europe.
Applecart is targeting corporate, publishers and printers with the product.
