Apple released a new G4 workstation and pre-press vendors announced OS X-compatible products at last weeks Macworld Expo.
The new G4 range starts at 1,199 for the entry-level 733MHz machine, featuring 128MB of RAM, a 40GB hard drive and CD-RW.
It also includes a 1,799 867MHz machine with a 60GB hard drive as well as the top-of-the-range 2,499 800MHz dual processor machine. All feature gigabit Ethernet and come with Apples latest operating system, OS X.
Apples third-quarter net profit was 43m ($61m), 10% down from last year, while sales fell 19% to 1.04bn.
At the show Quark announced an OS X native version of QuarkXPress 5.x.
"Quark stands strongly behind OS X and were working diligently to make QuarkXPress run natively on Apples next generation operating system," said Quark vice president of product management Juergen Kurz.
A pre-release version of QuarkXPress 5.0 that runs in Mac OS X Classic environment is being tested by end-users.
RealTimeImage showed an OS X version of the client side of its RealTimeProof soft proofing software.
The firm also showed an alpha version of Personal Proofing Publisher, an application that works with its browser plug-in to automate moving files to its ASP remote proofing site, RealTimeProof.com.
Xinet announced OS X Server versions of its OPI software, FullPress 11.0, and its asset management software, WebNative Venture.
