North American and European producers, including the likes of Weyerhaeuser, Tembec, Billerud and Rottneros will raise the price of their Northern Bleached Softwood Kraft (NBSK) pulp with immediate effect.
Producers are aiming to close the gap between the NBSK price levels in the US and Europe.
NBSK stands at $550 per tonne in the US, and $530 per tonne in Europe.
Further price rises are being forecast for October or November, which could push NBSK to as high as $570 per tonne.
